Telehealth

Online psychiatry anywhere in California

Secure video visits with Janae Cox, PMHNP — the same care as an office appointment, from wherever you are in the state.

Statewide care

You don’t have to live in Redlands.

Janae is licensed throughout California, which means she can see any patient physically located in the state at the time of their appointment. Licensing follows where you are during the visit — not where you live or where our office sits.

That matters in a state where good psychiatric care is unevenly distributed. Waitlists in many areas run months, and in rural counties the nearest prescriber can be an hour’s drive. Telehealth removes the geography problem entirely.

It also removes quieter barriers: taking half a day off work, arranging childcare, finding parking, or having your car recognized outside a psychiatrist’s office in a small town.

What telehealth works well for

  • Initial psychiatric evaluations
  • Anxiety and panic — especially when leaving home is hard
  • Depression, when low energy makes appointments feel impossible
  • Bipolar disorder follow-up and mood monitoring
  • ADHD evaluation and ongoing management
  • Medication follow-up and dose adjustments
  • Psychotherapy sessions

When in person may be better

  • Certain controlled substance prescriptions, under federal and state rules
  • Situations needing a physical exam or in-office assessment
  • Acute safety concerns requiring a higher level of care
  • Any time you simply prefer to meet face to face

Janae will tell you directly if she thinks an office visit would serve you better. Many patients do an initial evaluation in Redlands and handle follow-ups by video, or mix the two as their schedule requires.

Common questions

Who can be seen by telehealth?

Anyone physically located in California at the time of the appointment — including the Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, the Central Valley, Sacramento, and the Bay Area. Licensing is based on where you are during the visit, not where you live.

What do I need for the appointment?

A private space where you can speak freely, a reliable internet connection, and a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera. You’ll receive a secure link before your visit — there’s no software to buy and no account to create.

Is telehealth as effective as an in-person visit?

For most psychiatric care, research has found telehealth outcomes comparable to in-person visits. Evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy all translate well to video. Some situations are better served in person, and Janae will say so directly if that applies to you.

Does insurance cover telehealth?

Most major carriers cover telehealth psychiatry at the same benefit level as in-person care. See our accepted plans, or call 909-798-6200 and we’ll verify your specific telehealth benefits before your first appointment.

Can medication be prescribed during a video visit?

Yes, prescriptions can be sent electronically to your pharmacy. Controlled substances — including some ADHD medications — are subject to federal and state prescribing rules that may require an in-person visit. Call 909-798-6200 and we’ll explain how this applies to your situation before you schedule.

Can I combine telehealth and in-person visits?

Yes. Many patients do an initial in-person evaluation at the Redlands office and then handle follow-up visits by video, or mix the two based on their schedule. You’re not locked into one format.
